Axis Energy Services successfully deployed the industry\u2019s first fully <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/axisofs.com\/technology\/epic\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"406\">electric well service rig<\/a><\/strong>, the EPIC RIG\u2122, on wells operated by Occidental Petroleum in the Permian Basin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The EPIC RIG\u2122 improves safety, efficiency, and operational consistency. It also runs on grid power, reducing emissions and increasing fuel flexibility. The rig currently supports production well work under a long-term contract.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-electric-well-service-rig-drives-industry-innovation\">Electric Well Service Rig Drives Industry Innovation<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe EPIC RIG\u2122 represents a major step forward in well service technology,\u201d said Ryan Phillips. \u201cIts deployment marks the start of a new generation of rigs built for modern oilfield demands.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The EPIC RIG\u2122 (Electric-Powered Intervention &amp; Completion) delivers several advantages over traditional rigs. Its electric-powered drawworks provide instant torque and smooth, consistent performance. The system reduces maintenance needs and minimizes downtime compared to diesel-powered alternatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-advanced-technology-improves-safety-and-performance\">Advanced Technology Improves Safety and Performance<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The electric design allows Axis to rethink rig operations. The EPIC RIG\u2122 uses a dynamic braking system instead of traditional mechanical brakes. This change removes a common source of non-productive time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rig also features a built-in PLC system integrated with the <a href=\"https:\/\/axisofs.com\/technology\/core\/\" type=\"page\" id=\"479\">CORE\u00ae<\/a> data platform. Operators gain precise control and automated safeguards. The company is developing two additional EPIC RIG\u2122 units for deployment later this year.
