As Axis continues to provide its customers with a comprehensive range of completion and workover solutions integrated into one seamless offering, it is excited to announce its new service line of fishing capabilities and highly experienced reverse unit operations. In addition, Axis has a full line of rental equipment available. The new Fishing and Rental Division launched its operations in the Delaware Basin in March and will soon be available for work across multiple markets around the U.S. where Axis offers its services.
As a leading provider of frac plug drill outs, Axis knows it is important that a service partner be able to solve customer challenges ranging from routine to highly complex. We now offer operators full-service cased hole fishing with a full range of fishing and rental tools from 2 3/8” up to 7 5/8”. Fishing equipment and rental tools include, but are not limited to, spears, overshots, grapples, impression blocks, wash pipe, mills, bits, tool joints, bit subs, drill collars and cross overs in various sizes with different thread combinations. Axis also has 5K and 10K reverse units, swivels, and downhole motors to perform drill outs and clean wellbores.
“We are excited to have a new manager onboard, Phil Lomax, who will be leading our new operations in Hobbs, New Mexico,” says Dirk Lee, President and CEO. “Collectively, we have a vision for this new division. We want to be the best coiled tubing fishing company, and we have the data to show that we can become the best at milling plugs. We’re here to help you get the job done.”
Phil Lomax, Fishing and Rental Service Manager, joins Axis with more than 30 years’ experience in the oilfield services industry, where he has managed large publicly traded and small independent companies and has considerable experience working in the Permian and Delaware Basins.
“This is a new service line for Axis, and we are very eager to get the ball rolling,” says Lomax. “Axis’ core values and mine are aligned and in order to provide constantly safe and efficient services, my team will have daily job safety analysis and monthly safety meetings. We will discuss all hazards prior to starting each job, arrive to each job with tested and job-ready equipment, will constantly monitor performance to ensure efficient operations, and will meet for post-job analysis to discuss how we can improve.”
Axis Fishing and Rental is already busy working and recently performed its first job successfully for an operator in the Delaware doing 24-hour toe preps requiring a 10K pump as primary and a second 5K pump as standby. Axis provided pumps, swivels, and all required connections and crossovers needed for the job. Axis also had a rig on location and will drill out plugs for a future job with the same customer. The fishing and rental team has another upcoming job this week with a 2 7/8 downhole motor where the team will be drilling out plugs with an Axis snubbing unit on location as well.
